we had a busy weekend. friday afternoon i headed to mom and dad's to stay. adam was coming in a little after 8 and we had plans the following morning so we were just going to stay the night. saturday morning, we got up and dressed and headed for downtown for the cure search walk for childhood cancer. there was a team supporting camryn, princess camryn's court, and we were all going to walk together. just as we left, my sis called and told me they were starting the walk early due to the weather, so we decided that we would just turn around because by the time we found a spot to park, loaded the kids in strollers and walked to the start of the walk, the team would be finished. since we were out and our next activity for the day wasn't until noon, we headed to jordan creek and did a little shopping. after three pairs of sandals, five t-shirts, a pair of shorts and a one-piece romper, we were headed back to the southside to attend a benefit lunch for my friend's mom who is going through her second battle with non-hodgkins lymphoma. lunch was good and i saw quite a few friends from high school that i've lost touch with over the years. after lunch, we headed south to albia to discuss plans for our trip.
sunday morning we headed to the nursing home to get adam's grandma and then off to breakfast we went. we decided to see if his grandpa was out for breakfast, hoping we could surprise him so he could see the kids too. our plan worked out and we got to enjoy breakfast with both greats and they got to see little boy and baby girl. we dropped grandma back off at the nursing home and then headed to my grandparents' house so they could see the kids. i just love to see them interact with brynlee and fletcher. and fletcher already knows where the candy dish is at gg mcd's house. we cut our visit short because we needed to get our stuff together and head back to des moines. my niece's graduation party was from 2-6 so we needed to hit that up. we got there a little later than planned, but it was all good. the food was good, the beer was cold and the company was entertaining. after a few hours there, we decided we should leave and get home to do a few things before the sun was gone for the day. finally home, i did a load of laundry and straightened toys, bathed the kids and got them ready for bed. adam did a few things around the house and got ready for work...it had been two weeks since he had been to the office, so there were some things he made sure he had. a busy weekend means tired kids and worn out parents. we were all in bed by 10 and i'm pretty sure it wasn't too long after that we were all asleep.
i'll try to be a better blogger this week. i know i've been slacking, but our lives have been pretty boring lately.
